QuickBooks Connection

Connecting QuickBooks

To connect your QuickBooks Online account, navigate to Settings from the sidebar and click Connect QuickBooks. You'll be redirected to Intuit's authorization page where you'll sign in with your QuickBooks credentials and grant Lirea access.

Lirea requires permission to create and update customer records and invoices in your QuickBooks company file. These permissions are requested during the OAuth flow and can be reviewed before you approve.

Once authorized, Lirea securely stores an encrypted refresh token so you stay connected between sessions. You do not need to reconnect each time you log in.

Supported QuickBooks Versions

Lirea is designed for QuickBooks Online (Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced). QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Self-Employed are not supported at this time.

If you're unsure which version you have, check your QuickBooks dashboard or contact Intuit support.

Troubleshooting Sync Issues

If a contract sync fails, the review page will display an error message with details. Common causes include expired tokens, permission changes, or temporary QuickBooks API outages.

Token expiration: QuickBooks tokens expire periodically. If you see an authorization error, go to Settings and click Reconnect QuickBooks to re-authorize. Your data and pending contracts are not affected.

Permission errors: If your QuickBooks user role was changed or downgraded, Lirea may lose the ability to create records. Ensure your QuickBooks user has permission to create customers and invoices.

API outages: Occasionally, QuickBooks experiences service interruptions. If syncs fail with a server error, wait a few minutes and retry. You can check the Intuit status page for known outages.

Disconnecting QuickBooks

You can disconnect QuickBooks at any time from your Settings page by clicking Disconnect QuickBooks. This immediately revokes the stored token and stops all syncing.

Disconnecting does not delete any records already created in QuickBooks — those remain in your QuickBooks account. It also does not delete contracts or extracted data stored in Lirea.

If you want to reconnect later, simply click Connect QuickBooks again and complete the authorization flow.

Re-authorizing QuickBooks

If your connection becomes stale or you see repeated authorization errors, you can re-authorize without disconnecting first. Go to Settings and click Reconnect QuickBooks.

Re-authorizing refreshes your token and restores the connection. Any contracts that failed to sync due to authorization issues can be retried from their review page after reconnecting.

Switching QuickBooks Companies

Each Lirea organization connects to one QuickBooks company file at a time. To switch companies, disconnect the current QuickBooks connection and reconnect with the desired company.

When you reconnect, Intuit will ask you to choose which company to authorize. Select the new company and approve the permissions.
